Pre-launch preparations for a high-altitude weather balloon mission, which began before sunrise to ensure optimal conditions. This involved carefully inflating the balloon while monitoring for leaks or punctures and securing it with a blanket to prevent damage. Attention to detail and systematic approach ensured a safe and successful launch.

I designed and implemented a data acquisition system using a Raspberry Pi to log video, temperature, barometric pressure, and pressure altitude during the flight. A GoPro provided additional HD footage for post-flight analysis. My role included conducting a thorough pre-launch avionics check to ensure all systems were operational and recording data as intended.

Prior to launch, I performed a final avionics check to verify the functionality of all onboard systems, including the Raspberry Pi data logger, GoPro camera, and telemetry equipment. This step was critical to ensuring the success of the mission and the integrity of the collected data.

To ensure a safe and compliant launch, I calculated the estimated ascent rate and trajectory of the weather balloon using current wind and weather data. This information was submitted to NAVCanada for approval, demonstrating my ability to navigate regulatory requirements and prioritize safety in aerospace projects.
